![]() ![]() The issue is delayed extra attack, but it sounds like you're already past level 8 if you have Fey-Touched and PAM with Harengon. In combats where you want to melee, you can attack+Shillelagh, then full attack, with Favored Foe, Dreadful Strikes, and Dueling all stacking on your 2-3 attacks, and you're a damage dealer. Now, in combats where you want to cast Bless, you can do Bless and Archer Form on Turn 1, then use Guiding Bolt and Archer Form and be a Wis support character. ![]() Take 2 levels of Stars Druid for Shillelagh, Guidance, and a bunch of other goodies, and go all-in on the Fey/Wisdom build. But you've basically turned your cool Fey ranger into a normal PAM fighter. Your persuasion will be lower but your damage will be better. ![]() Replace Wis priority with Str and take Dueling instead of Druidic Warrior. You could focus your character build a couple different ways and probably have a better time of it: Even with the bless bonus, I'd be worried about keeping concentration consistently enough to make the turn to cast worth it. If you choose Druidic Warrior over Dueling, you are conceding a lot of damage for versatility.īy taking a turn to cast Bless, right before you run into melee, you're also trying to play a support character and a damage dealer at the same time, so there will be some pretty big concessions. PAM also works really well with Dueling FS because you get an extra attack to apply the damage bonus. PAM just doesn't work great with Shillelagh because of the competing BAs. Is there any strategy I can use here, am I playing as optimally as I can already? Is shillelagh just not as good as I had hoped it would be? Is bless going to continue to conflict for my character's entire career? Thanks for any help y'all can offer Not to mention entangling strike, any other action spells I want to cast (fog cloud), etc. Typically I want to open up a big combat with bless on my party, can't cast shillelagh that turn (that also means my polearm master attack when enemies approach sucks on the first turn), then the second turn I often want to cast shillelagh, but also want to cast misty step or use my bunny hop (harengon) so I only end up casting it about 60% of the time, then third turn I'll definitely have it cast, meaning I can only use my polearm master bonus attack on the third or fourth turn. I thought it would work out amazingly with my high wis and the polearm master feat, but the bonus action casting time has been a big problem for me. I'm playing a Fey Wanderer ranger with the Druidic Warrior fighting style to get Shillelagh. ![]()
